Alabama voters will return to the polls tomorrow, June 16, for the 2026 Alabama Primary Runoff Election. While runoff elections often receive less attention than primary or general elections, they play a critical role in determining who will ultimately represent Alabama communities at the local, state, and federal levels. In several races, no candidate received the majority vote required during the primary election, making the runoff election the deciding factor in who advances to the November ballot.
For residents of North Jefferson County and across Alabama, this election is an opportunity to help shape the future of our communities. Decisions made by elected officials impact economic development, workforce initiatives, infrastructure investments, education, public safety, and the overall business climate. Whether you are a business owner, employee, student, or retiree, your vote helps influence the policies and priorities that affect daily life.
Important Election Information
Polls will be open statewide from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Alabama voters are required to present a valid photo ID before casting their ballot. If you participated in a party’s primary election, you may only vote in that same party’s runoff election.

Why Voter Participation Matters
Historically, runoff elections experience significantly lower voter turnout than primary and general elections. Because fewer voters participate, each individual vote carries even greater weight. In some races, a relatively small number of votes can determine the outcome of an election.
The North Jefferson Chamber of Commerce believes strong communities are built through informed and engaged citizens. As a nonpartisan organization, our role is to inform—not influence. We encourage all eligible voters to become familiar with the candidates and issues on their ballot and participate in the democratic process.
Make a Plan to Vote
Research your ballot, verify your polling location, and set aside time to vote tomorrow. Whether you’re voting before work, during lunch, or after work, making a plan increases the likelihood that your voice will be heard.
Every vote matters. Every community matters. Every voice matters.
